S3C meets Consumer Unions

20.11.2014 - Milan: S3C experts and consumer unions meet to discuss the consumer interests in a smart energy future.

On November 20th, 2014 the Italian S3C-workshop took place with great success in the Milan Representation of the European Union.
Nearly 150 participants from the energy industry, different consumer unions, regional authorities and academia joined the co-hosts RSE and the Sustainable Consumption Foundation to discuss the first results of S3C.

After RSE had highlighted the most promising practices as well as the cross-cutting success factors found by the S3C consortium, A2A and the municipality of Milan presented experiences in regional energy campaigns. Their experiences prove that energy efficiency can not only reduce CO2 emissions, but also serves job creation in the green sector well. This is a crucial point for many European countries experiencing crises at the moment. It can become an extra benefit when consumers are included in a future energy system.

The participants took on an active part in the working tables sharing their opinions and experiences in the field. They agreed on the need for the Smart Consumer to lie in transparent, unbiased information as a prerequisite to change their energy consumption or improve their efficiency.

Paolo Landi, head of the Sustainable Consumption Union, will carry over the most relevant advice from the workshop into the S3C ADB meeting. Thus, the S3C consortium can utilise the new knowledge gained during the workshop to improve their tools and guidelines.
